What we liked about this book: Many of us connected to this book personally, given its
allegorical relation to current events. The rich prose and detailed imagery were also positives
even for those who didn’t enjoy the story as much.
What we didn’t like: For some, the journal entry format was off-putting. For others, the
circumstances of Piranesi’s isolation hit a bit too close to home and was emotionally triggering.
Verdict: Overall, this was very well received. The meeting ran a few minutes long and I forgot to
capture absolute ratings, but only 2 of the attendees explicitly disliked the book.
