Date and Time: 2pm, 1/15/22
Location: Zoom
Book: Mem by Bethany Morrow
Coordinator: DeVon Green
Attendees: DeVon Green, Wendy Darling, Ed Stewart, Melissa Belch, Alexandria
What we liked about this book: We found both the story and the philosophical questions of personhood that arose throughout to be engaging and thought-provoking. We rooted for the main character’s journey towards personal agency.
What we didn’t like: Setting the story in the 1920s and not explicitly mentioning the issues of racism and sexism that would were inherent to those times was a bit confusing for most of us.
Verdict: We liked it! 3 likes, 1 dislike

Wild Seed by Octavia Butler (Melissa)
