Date and Time: Oct. 16, 2021, 2-4 pm
Location: Zoom meeting
Book: Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots
Coordinator: Robert Allen
Attendees: Robert, DeVon, Christian, Alexandria, Grayson (new), Ed, Wayne, Bil
Announcements:

Thank you DeVon for taking over as book club coordinator!

Christian has set up a Meetup to try to grow the book club.

What we liked about this book: The initial premise. Focus on ppl behind supervillains and superheroes. Here we get the henchmen and office managers. Sympathized with protag although hated her at beginning. Narrator of audio version was good. Liked style of writing, how it was crafted. Banter and dialog.
What we didn’t like: No backstory for Anna or reason why she joins supervillain side. Misandry throughout book. Body horror.
Verdict: Very mixed, but good discussion
Next Book Nominations:
Mem by Bethany Morrow (DeVon)
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing - Hank Green (Grayson)
Blood Child and Other Stories by Octavia Butler (Alexandria)
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville (Robert)
