Officer Reports

Treasurer: Close to breaking even for year, slightly on positive side. No change in membership. 2024 budget proposal includes two picnics, Zoom conferencing, and normal admin expenses. Need $1,000 in income (memberships plus donations) to cover expenses. This year we had $567 in cash donations. Picnic reimbursements for the year have been paid. Leah to reimburse Paul for pavilion reservations.

Secretary: Minutes submitted.

Vice President: Nothing to report.

President: Focused on game library this month, see Game Library Committee report.

• Book club: Held Saturday, Oct. 21, 1 p.m. @ Zoom. Read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. 5 attended.
• Game Day: Held Saturday, Nov. 4, 1 p.m. @ Woofs. 24 attended, 4 new.
• Happy Hour: Held Thursday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. @ Red's Beer Garden. 3 attended. Parking is bad because of construction, recommendation to relocate until parking is restored.
• Book club: Held Saturday, Nov. 17, 1 p.m. @ Zoom. Read I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself by Marisa Crane. 7 attended.

Upcoming December Events: Game Day will be held Saturday, December 2 at 1 p.m. at OutFront Theatre. Happy Hour will be held Thursday, December 14 at 7 p.m. at Church. OutReaders Book Club will be held Saturday, December 16, 2 p.m. at Zoom, Mama Day by Gloria Naylor. Business Meeting will be held Sunday, December 17 at 1 p.m.

Upcoming January Events: Game Night will be held Saturday, January 6 at 7 p.m. at Robert Marshall's house. Happy Hour TBD. OutReaders Book Club will be held Saturday, January 20, 2 p.m. at Zoom, In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune. Business Meeting will be held Sunday, January 21 at 11 a.m.

Bylaws Committee: Did not meet

OutReaders: October: Good Omens. Verdict: Liked the dry British humor and the irreverence. Ending left them wanting more. Unanimous 5 thumbs up. November: I Keep my Exoskeletons to Myself. Verdict: Raw emotional prose, but immersion was at times too much and some walked away depressed. 6 thumbs up, 1 thumb sideways.

Out@theMovies: Did not meet

Game Library Committee: Met 9/17, Robert A., Leah and Christian. Discussed ways to sell/auction games. Voted to go to 2nd and Charles first, auction games second. Met 11/5, Robert A. and Leah. Took 19 games to 2nd and Charles. They bought 14 games, offered $26 in cash or $53 in store credit. Chose store credit.

Elections Committee: Nominees for 2024 board are: Robert Allen, president; Leah Frey, Vice President; Bryan Faris, Treasurer; Griffen Price, Secretary.

Unfinished Business

Vertical Sign: Moved to 2024.

Pride: Robert A. emailed Pride with a recap of our experience: Load-in and load-out was much easier because we brought a small amount of games. Expressed (again) our displeasure of our space having only stairs as access, which is not ADA compliant. Looking forward to next year. Also of note: getting OutWorlders to volunteer for Pride was difficult. Many shifts were not completely filled.

New Business

Zoom: Switched to annual payment, which provides a modest savings over monthly.

Selling games: Board to experiment with selling games at game events at Woofs and OutFront.

Five Games OutWorlders Should Own: Brandon: Mantis, DC Deckbuilder, Wingspan, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Marvel Champoins, Parks, Summer Camp, New York Zoo. Leah: Codenames/Codenames XL, Castle Panic, Forbidden Sky, Potion Explosion. Robert M.: Jaipur, Dungeons and DragonsAdventure Begins, Crostwords. Bryan: we already own his top 5. Robert: Deception Murder in Hong Kong, Codenames. Villainous, Potion Explosion, Quacks of Quedlinburgh.
