Internet Coordinator’s Report

The Internet is still there.

Special Interest Groups Reports

Readers Group

The Readers Group read Running Dry by M. Christian. No one liked it, and only one managed to finish reading it.

Next month, the group will read Titan by John Varley.

Writers Group

No report.

Gaming

It was too cold to hold Strategy Gaming at the picnic, but three people went back to Ken’s afterward and played games for a while. Dan Benge volunteered to host Strategy Gaming some time in the future. Deb Aziz is scheduled to host in November.

Old Business

The Outworlders/Outlantacon table for Pride will be G-30. This is near the tennis courts in Piedmont Park. The load-in will be Saturday morning, and Outlantacon will sponsor food and drink for us all. Jeff is seeing into whether we can participate in the panhandling receipts.

Robert Marshall will host the Hallowe’en party Saturday night.

Possibly someone will volunteer to host a Thanksgiving gathering.

The officers are considering adopting a “Don’t be a jerk” rule for the various Yahoo! groups. For first transgressions, offenders will be put on moderation; for a second, the penalty will be ejection from the group.

New Business

The 15th annual Atlanta Board Game Fest will be held January 28-31, 2010. It costs $40 for the weekend, or $65 for the weekend for a family. it will be held at the Holiday Inn Peachtree Corners, which costs $60 a night.

The Outlantacon one-day gaming event will be November 14. Events will include a Family Feud in the evening. It will be at the same Holiday Inn that hosted Outlantacon back in May. Some sort of food offering is being worked out right now.

Gaylactic Network wants to affiliate with Atlanta Outworlders. This would cost no money, and we won’t have to change our name to conform with their naming convention. All it will entail is an exchange of links on each of our websites. Approval of this requires a consensus of sponsoring members and a formal request from us to Gaylactic Network. Wm Boozer will write and transmit the request.

Nominations for officers for 2010 began at this meeting and will close at the November meeting. Robert Marshall, who is seeking no office, will be the Election Coordinator.

The following nominations were made:

  • President: Edward DeGruy, Scott Tatum
  • Vice-President: Michael Green, Dan Benge
  • Secretary: Vandy Beth Glenn
  • Treasurer: No nominee.

The meeting adjourned at 12:08 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by Vandy Beth Glenn, Secretary, Atlanta Outworlders.
