OutWorlders, Inc.

The regular business meeting of OutWorlders was held on Sunday, 15 February 2004, at 2:12 p.m. at the Atlanta Diner, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The following sponsoring members were present:.Bil Boozer, Amy Coppeans, Chris Coppeans, Wendy Darling, Ed deGruy, Ken Fernandez. Also present was Ray Berg.

President’s Report

Ed deGruy reported that he was working on the public relations letters.

Treasurer’s Report

Jeff Smith reported that the checks the organization had ordered had arrived.

Secretary’s Report

Bil Boozer reported that there are currently 14 sponsoring members.

Public Relations

Jeff Smith suggested that the group should adopt a written policy on advertising and that advertising inquiries should be forwarded through Ray Berg.

Bylaws Proposal

At the previous meeting, Bil Boozer had introduced the following amendment to the organization’s bylaws:

Whereas a number of OutWorlders, Inc. members, including sponsoring members, attend Chattacon on a regular basis and the scheduling of Chattacon may coincide with the scheduling of the January regular business meeting,


RESOLVED, That the following sentence be added to “Section 4. Meetings” of the Bylaws: “In January, if the schedule for Chattacon includes the third Sunday of the month, then the regular business meeting for the month will be set for the fourth Sunday of the month.”

The proposal was not adopted by a vote of 4 in favor, 2 opposed, and 1 present. (A two-thirds majority is required to amend the bylaws.)

OutWorldReaders (book discussion group S.I.G.)

Bil Boozer reported that a new member had joined the book discussion group (which met immediately prior to the business meeting). The book selected for the March discussion is Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey.

OutWriters (writers’ group)

Bil Boozer reported that interest in the writers’ group appeared to be rising following poorly attended meetings in fall of 2003. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 17 March 2004. The group has been discussing this year’s Dragon*Con project.

The meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m. The next scheduled meeting is 21 March 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Diner.
