OutWorlders

The regular business meeting of OutWorlders was held on Sunday, 20 July 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Diner, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The following sponsoring members were present: Bil Boozer, Ray Berg, Amy Coppeans, Chris Coppeans, Edward deGruy, Kris Harter, Joy Hatcher.

Treasurer's Report

Joy Hatcher reported that the group had raised $330 in donations for the t-shirt drive at Pride. Also, Darren Nowell's tarot readings and Jeff Smith's silent auction brought in another $171. Based on discussion on the sponsoring members mailing list and at the meeting, the group decided to donate $150 of the money raised to CHRIS Rainbow Home. Bil Boozer matched the amount. The $300 was given to Kris Harter, who explained that she would be able to treble the amount as a Coca-Cola employee.

Secretary's Report

The secretary reported that a large number of potential new members had signed the sign-up sheets at the group's Pride booth. Kris Harter had contacted these people via e-mail to invite them to join our mailing lists.

Events Coordinator's Report

Kris Harter announced that she would be planning a road trip to Savannah on an October weekend. Whether the trip would be a go or not would depend on how many people are interested.
Kris Harter announced that Wade Young has begun hosting a monthly "Spooky Movie Night" on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Also, Mike Hwang has indicated that he will not longer be able to host the monthly animation night, at least not for the time being. Bil Boozer volunteered to replace him as host, and everyone said, "Hurrah!"

Plans are for hosts to wear camp counselor uniforms and there will be a facsimile of UFO's Wall of Booze. Raffle tickets and t-shirts will also be available in exchange for donations at the party. Plans also include having a continuous video room running, on Saturday at least, showing queered representations in science fiction, fantasy, and/or horror film and/or television.
