OutWorlders, Inc.

The regular business meeting of OutWorlders was held on Sunday, 18 April 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Diner, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present.

Treasurer’s Report

Jeff Smith reported that the organization’s bank balance was $579.42. The organization was sending $250 to CHRIS Rainbow House (via Kris Harter), a hold-over from the previous year, and Chris Coppeans has been reimbursed for expenses related to the website.

Secretary’s Report

Bil Boozer reported that there are currently 15 sponsoring members.

Public Relations

Ray Berg reported that P.R. materials for Pride would be ready by next month.

Bylaws Proposal

At the previous meeting, Jeff Smith had introduced the following proposal for consideration:

Proposal 04-04-01. Proposal for Seeking Tax-Exempt Status.

THAT OutWorlders, Inc. seek tax-exempt status and allocate $150 to cover the required filing fee.

The proposal was adopted by a majority vote of sponsoring members present (including absentee ballots.)

At the previous meeting, Alan Siler had introduced the following proposal for consideration:

Proposal 04-04-02. Budget Proposal for OutWorlders’ Annual Spring Picnic

THAT OutWorlders, Inc. allot $70 to purchase food and supplies for the Annual Spring Picnic [currently scheduled for 1 May 2004].

The proposal was adopted by a majority vote of sponsoring members present (including absentee ballots.)

OutWorldReaders (book discussion group S.I.G.)

Bil Boozer reported that the book discussion group had met on 18 April 2004 to discuss Shadow Man by Melissa Scott. The May meeting was scheduled for 09 May 2004.

OutWriters (writers’ group)

Bil Boozer reported that the writers’ group would meet next on Wednesday, 19 May 2004, and that he and Ken Fernandez would have writings to be reviewed and discussed. Having selected Atlanta as the common setting for the Dragon*Con project, the members plan to meet to set the schedule for production of the project.

Announcements and Other Business

Ed deGruy reported that plans for an OutWorlders showing (including a party) at the SciFi Summer Con (in June) were progressing, and he expected no funding would be needed from the organization. OutWorlders members are serving on several discussion panels.

Ed deGruy reported that he had submitted a request for a fan table at Dragon*Con and, at this time, no expenses were expected in relation to the table.

The meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m. The next scheduled meeting is 21 March 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Diner.
